Environmentally friendly initiatives at Wintersun

  1. We recycle printer cartridges through Planet Ark facility at the local Australia Post.
  2. We recycle all paper products in the office.
  3. We recycle newspapers for cleaning the BBQs in the camp kitchen. Additional newspapers are taken to a nearby plantation along with the green waste from the park for mulching.
  4. We water the lawns using bore water and some grey water.
  5. We have planted water wise plants such as Agaves, succulents.
  6. We use mulching, wetting agents and reticulation set on timers to ensure water wise practices in our landscaping.
  7. We recycle our green waste into mulch at a nearby plantation.
  8. We replace all used light globes with energy efficient globes.
  9. We regularly clean light fittings, ceiling fans, air conditioning filters to ensure that they are operating efficiently.
  10. We use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
  11. We encourage customers to be water wise as detailed on our park rules. We have fitted water saving devices in all shower heads in the park.
  12. Where possible we use paper products made from recycled material.
  13. We recycle aluminium cans and donate the proceeds to the charity.
  14. We have installed Quantum energy hot water systems in our new chalets which are energy efficient.
  15. We only service chalets for long stay customers once a week (for new towels and linen) which reduces the amount of laundry and impact on the environment.
  16. We are not on deep sewerage but have a unique Biomax system at the back of the park which naturally and ecologically treats the liquid waste from the laundries and amenities blocks.
  17. We have fitted dual flush cisterns in the amenities.
  18. We do not have any leaking taps and attend to any leaks that spring up immediately.
  19. We have key tag switches in most chalets to turn off power when customers exit the building.
  20. We have instructions on the key tag for customers to consider the environment and turn off all appliances when not in their chalet.
