The OTC Satellite Dish dominating the skyline in Carnarvon is a huge telecommunications dish affectionately known as "The Dish". Built in conjunction with NASA in 1966 the station was involved in the Gemini and Apollo space missions. You can climb up the base of the dish for a spectacular panoramic view of the town and surrounding plantations.

The Kennedy Range National Park lies roughly 165km east of Carnarvon and is 75km long. Erosion on the eastern side of the range has created spectacular cliffs. The cliffs are accessible by road and are a popular picnic spot. Mount Augustus is the largest monolith in the world, twice the size of Ayers Rock (Uluru). It abruptly rises 2354 feet above the surrounding plains and is 1750 million years old.
